The queen of pop music, Kelly Clarkson, blew fans away with her jaw-dropping rendition of Jazmine Sullivan’s chart-topping track “Pick Up Your Feelings” on the latest episode of her talk show. Clarkson’s vocals were nothing short of mesmerizing as she belted out the lyrics with soulful perfection, backed by her band Y’all and a trio of powerhouse backup singers.
As she crooned out the pre-chorus “New phone (who is this?)/ Brand new, like the whip/ Rack it up, no assist/ Main bi–h I ain’t average/ Wake up, need a zip/ Hennessy take a sip/ I got my jeans, I’m too thick/ I ain’t got the room for extra baggage,” Kelly proved that her R&B chops are second to none.
“Pick Up Your Feelings” has been a massive hit for Sullivan, peaking at No. 75 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart, while her EP Heaux Tales reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200. And with Kelly’s stunning cover, there’s no doubt that the song will continue to linger on the airwaves for a long time to come.
